    Kigali City Tour

    You will be met by our Driver /Guide at your hotel in Kigali or Met at Kigali International airport with a short briefing about your Kigali city tour. Proceed for a city tour in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city which was named in 1907 by Dr. Richard Kandt, the first colonial resident governor of Rwanda. Kigali city is surrounded by lush hills of green. On the tour through the city, expect to see the following; Tour will start by visiting Mount Kigali for a fantastic view of the city, surrounding hillside and countryside. It is one of the highest points in Kigali city and stop at Kigali Museum and learn the history of city and country’s pre-colonial and colonial period as well as the colonial masters in Rwanda and have lunch at a town Hotel or Restaurant with a long stop at Kigali Genocide Memorial and we end our Tour in one of biggest local market (kimironko Market) we have in Rwanda to create chance for you to experience the local foods like fruits etc. You will overnight overnight at Kigali Hotel on Bed and Breakfast.

    Drive from Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park

    After breakfast this morning you depart Kigali for a 2 days chimpanzee tracking safari in Nyungwe Forest National park with your driver/Guide. There is an optional stopover in Huye at the ethnographic museum formerly the national museum of Rwanda. You will then proceed to the park after having Lunch at a Hotel near the Very popular Catholic cathedral at Butare. In the afternoon, you will take on the canopy walk in Nyungwe forest in Rwanda. The drive to Nyungwe forest is rewarding with views of several hills with a driving duration of 2 hours and you will also have a chance to experience in the distance Lake Kivu and Kibira national park in Burundi. After an evening tour around Nyungwe National Park you will be transferred to your lodge for overnight on Full Board.

    Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest national park

    After early morning breakfast at around 0600hrs depending on the location of your lodge, your driver/ guide will pick you up and transfer you to the briefing point at the Uwinka visitors center in Nyungwe forest before you can start your chimpanzee trekking. The forest is rich in botanical diversity hosting over 200 species of trees and flowering plants and about 300 bird species. The forest is also home to 13 species of primates including Olive baboons, L’Hoest’s monkeys, Ruwenzori colobus, Vervet monkeys, silver monkey, Grey-cheeked manga-bey, red-tailed monkey etc. You will most likely sight some of these forest inhabitants on your chimpanzee trekking. After receiving a briefing and depending on the number of people present for the chimp trek you will be divided into two groups. One will track starting at the Uwinka center and another starting at Cyamudongo – which will require your driver guide to transfer you to the starting point. Your ranger guide will be in communication with the trackers who live early morning to locate where the chimpanzee nested the previous night. You are allowed to stay with the chimps for only 1 hour after locating them, photography is allowed but be reminded that the flash is prohibited. The duration of this chimpanzee trekking tour is around 4 hours. After your Chimpanzee trekking tour you will be transferred to your lodge for Lunch or if you have shortage of time you will leave your lodge with parked lunch then we will have some rest and drive back to Kigali via Kibuye Road where you will pass by shore of Lake Kivu. On arrival in Kigali you will be dropped at your hotel if you will spend one more night in Kigali at own cost or on arrival in Kigali you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your flight to your next destination.
